NickServ Commands

NickServ is the service we use on AceIRC to ensure your nickname's security. NickServ's main help menu can be accessed by running the command: /msg NickServ HELP from your IRC client. Below, you'll be introduced to the features of NickServ, and an easy way to get you started (registering a nickname, etc.) -- Also, NickServ has a command alias (/ns), which you can use instead of /msg NickServ, if you wish to do so.

 

REGISTER: Allows you to register your nickname. Syntax: /msg NickServ REGISTER <password> <email>. Simply replace <password> with your desired nickname password, and <email> with your email address. (NOTE: You'll have to identify every time you sign on with that nickname).

 

GROUP: Allows you to group your nicknames together, a linked registration. Syntax: /msg NickServ GROUP <nick> <password>. Simply replace <nick> with the desired nickname you'd like to group to, and replace <password> with the password for said nickname.

 

GLIST: Allows you to list the nicknames grouped (in your group). Syntax: /msg NickServ GLIST.

 

IDENIFY: Identifies for the given nickname. Syntax: /msg NickServ IDENTIFY <password> -or- /msg NickServ ID <password>. Simply replace <password> with the password for the nickname you're using.

 

ACCESS: Modifies the access list for your nickname, which allows for auto-identification from the given mask. Syntax: /msg NickServ ACCESS ADD *@*mask -or- /msg NickServ ACCESS DEL -or- /msg NickServ ACCESS LIST.

 

SET: Modifies various nickname set options. Syntax: /msg NickServ SET <option>. Replace <option> with the various set option. To retrieve a list of options available, type /msg NickServ HELP SET.

 

DROP: Allows you to drop your nickname, or a nickname in your group. Syntax: /msg NickServ DROP <nickname>. Replace <nickname> with the nickname to be dropped.

 

RECOVER: Kills another user who has taken your nick. Syntax: /msg NickServ RECOVER <nickname> <password>. Replace <nickname> with the desired nickname, and <password> with the password for the nickname.

 

RELEASE: Regains custody of a nickname (from services). Used after a services enforcer is connected. Syntax: /msg NickServ RELEASE <nickname> <password>. Replace <nickname> with the desired nickname, and <password> with the password for the nickname.

 

GHOST: Kills a "ghost" IRC connection using your nickname. Commonly used after a ping timeout. Syntax: /msg NickServ GHOST <nickname> <password>. Replace <nickname> with the desired nickname, and <password> with the password for the nickname.

 

INFO: Displays information on the given nickname. Syntax: /msg NickServ INFO <nickname> -or- /msg NickServ INFO <nickname> ALL. Replace <nickname> with the desired nickname you'd like to receive information on.

 

LOGOUT: Reverses the IDENTIFY command. Syntax: /msg NickServ LOGOUT.

 

STATUS: Returns the status of the given nickname. Syntax: /msg NickServ STATUS <nickname>. Replace <nickname> with the desired nickname you'd like to receive the status on.

 

UPDATE: Updates your current status. Syntax: /msg NickServ UPDATE.

 

How to Get Started:

1. Connect to AceIRC using the desired nickname, or change your nick with the /nick <nickname> command.

2. Register with NickServ using /msg NickServ IDENTIFY <password> <email>
